Salon Technologies International Inc was founded in 1998 by internationally renowned Pharmacist Ted Khoury, CEO, R.Ph, B.Pharm. Licensed in the United States and South Africa, Mr. Khoury has more than 3 decades of expertise in the personal care industry.

After completing high school in 1979 in Johannesburg South Africa,  Mr. Khoury was accepted into pharmacy school at the  University of Witswatesrand. After graduation, he earned a 1 year internship at a retail pharmacy gaining valuable knowledge of the industry. From 1986-1987 he severed as a 2 star Lieutenant served in the Medical Corps of the South African Army. He was transferred to the Namibian/Angolan border to run the main hospital pharmacy in a war torn part of the world at that time. Mr. Khoury felt pretty helpless at times when troops would come back from long patrols seeking help for severe sunburn, blisters, psoriasis, cracked hands, cracked elbows, heels and other severe dermatological problems associated with harsh environment.

Without the availability to prepare any suitable products, he used to improvise and use simple ingredients like petroleum jelly and olive oil from the officers’ mess.

Mr. Khoury arranged a special procurement requisition from the Major in charge and flew to the South African Defense Force headquarters in Pretoria to arrange for supplies in order to rectify the lack of inventory. Upon his return, he formulated some basic products during the night, such as jars of creams and moisturizers for his fellow comrades. He became the “hero“amongst his fellow soldiers.

 In 1989, he founded Ted Khoury Laboratories, Pty, Ltd and within a short period of time the company was supplying almost 1200 pharmacies with over 60 products.  The company became well known in the industry for its fragrance free, color free products such as hand and body creams, and hypoallergenic bath oils.

In 1991, Mr. Khoury had grown a highly sought after business that was acquired by Femista Hair Cosmetics (a company for which he used to do contract packaging). Femista was building a new factory at the time and Mr. Khoury designed the entire manufacturing, warehousing areas and laboratory – in a brand new 4000 sq meter facility. Mr. Khoury was promoted to Organizations Executive, reporting directly to the CEO.  He continued to develop new products, while managing the laboratory and a production staff of over 200 employees.  After 7 years with Femista, Mr. Khoury decided to re-locate to the United States with his family and settled in Orlando Florida.

Since moving to Orlando Mr Khoury  has done work with national and internationally renowned companies and has built a reputable and respected name in the industry.
